Lia Goodman

Lia Goodman, a rising senior at Florida International University, aims to advance sustainable solutions to climate change. In pursuit of environmental policy, she’s an Honors College student majoring in Political Science, minoring in Environmental Studies, and earning a certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. Her passion lies in strengthening legislation devised to protect low-lying areas from the consequences of coastal flooding in the face of rising sea levels. Born and raised in South Florida, she advocates for hazard mitigation strategies that prepare vulnerable communities like her own for extreme events. Lia hopes to gain insight into disaster resilience in public policy while serving as a legislative intern in the United States House of Representatives this fall.
