Bio
Sofia, a Political Science and Government major, brings a strong passion for advocacy and public service to the Hamilton Scholars program. Originally from Colombia, she has long envisioned building her career in Washington, DC, and sees this experience as an opportunity to advance FIU’s priorities while gaining hands-on exposure to policymaking, legislation, and advocacy in action.
With plans to attend law school, Sofia is interning with both Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart’s office and the UPS Federal Relations Team, where she is exploring how the public and private sectors collaborate to shape national policy. She looks forward to sharpening her leadership, networking, and critical thinking skills while learning from mentors who have forged the path she aspires to follow.
