Cristina is pursuing a Sociology and Biology Dual Degree with particular interests in racial and gender hierarchies as well as global health inequities. Because of her interest in health equity, she co-founded the Friends of MSF Student Chapter at FIU to support and fundraise for MSF through speakers, socials, and community outreach. She has also been an avid researcher for years, presenting her research around the world including Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.

Her research career began with Baptist Hospital regarding natural products and special diets, and female patient perceptions. In University of Florida’s ReTool Program she conducted a scoping review regarding testosterone levels, health, and African men, and she is now publishing. She has also just accepted an internship with UsAgainstAlzerimer’s.

She would like to pursue a Master’s in Human Rights, and a PhD down the road. She values passion, self-understanding, and empathy, which she intends to carry with her through a career in research, advocacy, and policy reform.
