Andres Velasco

Bio

Andres Velasco is a senior at Florida International University majoring in history with minors in economics and marketing. An avid political buff, Velasco joined the FIU Model United Nations program, ranked #3 in North America, to learn and debate American foreign policy. He then interned at USAID in the summer of 2022, supporting civilian military disaster relief in the wake of the Russian war on Ukraine. He has interned twice in the US House of Representatives, both times for members representing South Florida, where he was able to directly support policies affecting his home county. He also spent time interning with Accenture’s North American Government Relations team, learning the outside scope of lobby and advocacy efforts. Velasco graduates in May 2023 and is seeking full time employment in or around governmental affairs.
